The enlightening resistant

Yesterday morning, I heard the former Czechoslovakia (1989 – 1993) then Czech Republic (1993 – 2003) president Vaclav Havel passing away.

I was very upset and sad to hear that, Havel being the greatest symbol of the struggle against the communist system and who, thanks to his words, his writing and his intelligence, largely contributed to its dismantlement in 1989 during the Velvet Revolution

Passionate activist, putting forward the values of liberty and democracy, pro-European, the Havel’s spirit was deeply respected although his stature was not enough to prevent the split of Czechoslovakia in January 1993.

Vaclav Havel was a genuine source of inspiration for all the Europeans and Europe will miss him very much. So, I have only one word: “děkuji Mr. Havel!”
